Knowing Christ (The Truth)

How to become a Christian
If you are ready to accept the gift of eternal life through Jesus, and you truly desire to ask Him into your heart to be your personal Lord and Savior, then pray this prayer:

“Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I believe that You died for my sins and rose from the grave so that I might have eternal life in Heaven with You. I willingly repent of my sins and ask you to come into my heart and life. Take control of my words, thoughts, and actions. I place all of my trust in You for my salvation. I accept You as my Lord and Savior, and this free gift of eternal life. Amen.”

If you have just prayed this prayer and accepted Christ, we would like to know so that we can celebrate with you! If you have questions or concerns, please call or email us. We want to encourage you in your walk with the Lord!

Baptism

Once a person puts his or her faith in Jesus Christ for salvation, the next step is to experience baptism, a symbolic picture of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and of your identification with Him. Baptism symbolizes your death to your old life of sin, your burial of that old life, and your new life in Christ Jesus. The pattern for baptism, as seen in the New Testament, is a public declaration of your personal faith by being fully immersed in water. It is also a way to reaffirm Jesus as Lord of your life by being willing to obey His desire for you to be baptized.  (If you have already been baptized by immersion as a sign of your faith in Christ earlier in life, you do not need to be baptized again.)

Membership

Why join the church?  Joining a church is a public demonstration that you are a part of a specific community of believers.  The Bible states that we should not give up meeting together in Hebrews 10:25.  1 Corinthians 12 reminds us that we are to be united as we carry out Christ’s purpose of growing His Kingdom in the world and in each other.  Church membership is an association with a group of like-minded and like-hearted people, living life together, making a kingdom impact through cooperative and purposeful endeavors.

Get to Know Jesus and Discover Your Purpose

(Grow and Be Fruitful)
Q: OK, now that I have become a Christ follower, is there more to this?
A: Yes, Jesus wants you to know Him and be transformed into His likeness.

Q: How do I do that?
A: Just like you get to know a person.  You have to spend time with Him and learn what others know about Him.

Q:  How do I spend time with Him?
A: Talk to Him.  Read the Bible. Start with the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John).  Then read some of the other books in the New Testament.

Q:  How do I learn from others?
A: We would suggest you find people who know Him, other followers of Christ.  We have Sunday school classes and small groups that can help you with this process.

Q: What else can I do?
A: Tell others about what Jesus is doing in your life. Find ways to help others. You will find serving others brings you joy and happiness. Chances are you are discovering how God made you to serve Him and His Kingdom. Look for Him where you go. He is at work in this world and offers His followers opportunities to join His eternal plans.

Don’t wait for someone or something to get you going. Jesus wants to be a part of your everyday life.  The Holy Spirit is ready to lead you to purposes and opportunities that will change your life and help you become more like Jesus.
