It’s not too late to join – openings still available!
Covenant Baptist Church is hosting a Homework Center each day (Monday – Friday) from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. where children will be virtual learning in a supervised environment. We are offering it for the first 30 students to sign up with ages ranging from kindergarten to seniors in high school. We are not teaching the students; we will only provide a supervised environment for them to complete their virtual learning. Your student will be required to bring a snack (for themselves) and a packed lunch each day as well as their Chromebook, charger, a pair of headphones, and other essential school supplies. Our church is fairly large, so we will be able to spread out for safety. We plan to split the kids into two groups: elementary and middle/high. We will have two background checked volunteers located in each class (four in total) and a background checked director to lead each day. Your child will experience an environment where they can complete the school work required of them in a structure that will be familiar to them with breaks for extracurricular activities and receive spiritual instruction as well. The cost of the Homework Center is $60 per week per child. For each additional sibling, it will be $30 per week. We are preparing for schools to switch over to 5 days of full virtual learning depending on the spread of COVID-19. This is why your $60 a week payment will reserve your students spot no matter how many days your child attends the Homework Center that week. To register, click on “Event Registration” on our home page, then “Click Here for all Covenant Events”. Finally click on the event titled “Homework Center at Covenant.”

Covenant Celebrates 26th Anniversary
Sunday, October 4th
DEADLINE TO SIGN UP FOR THE MEAL IS THIS SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27th.
Join us for worship and a meal celebrating Covenant’s 26th anniversary on Sunday, October 4th! We will have Joyful Sound from North Greenville University leading us in worship with a delicious meal of turkey, dressing, sides and tea afterwards. A basket for donations will be available. Suggested donation is $5.00 per person with a cap of $15.00 per family. Each family is asked to bring a dessert to share!
Since 1978, Joyful Sound has shared God’s Word through music and worship. The purpose of this ministry is to introduce people to Jesus Christ, help people grow in Christ, and encourage the brokenhearted. Joyful Sound consists of two nine-member vocal teams, each with their own sound technician. Team members are selected based on their testimony, their personal walk with Jesus Christ, and their musical ability. Our own Hendrix Wilson is a sophomore at North Greenville and is a member of the group. Come Celebrate the Lord, and all that He has done, is doing and will do!
Please sign up for the meal at the Connection Center in the main hallway or online at cbclancaster.org. Click on “Event Registration”, then “Click Here for all Covenant Events”. Finally click on the event titled Anniversary Sunday Lunch. We want to be prepared and have plenty of delicious food!
Prayerfully consider attending one of the courses we are offering in “Covenant University.” These courses will allow you to study something for six weeks that’s a little out of the ordinary. Covenant University will be held on Sundays from 4-5ish p.m., beginning October 11th through November 15th. Below you will find a brief description of each class:
“The Art of Marriage” – Led by Jason and Julie Mathews. Every marriage is unique, expressed by the colorful personalities of each spouse and textured by the circumstances at play in their lives. Blending these to make marriage work is a divinely inspired art form – challenging to master but definitely worth the effort. Get ready to make a masterpiece of your marriage through this video-driven study. Session Topics: Love Happens, Love Fades, Love Dances, Love Interrupted, Love Sizzles, Love Always
“Heaven” – Led by Judy Davenport. This study will use the book entitled “Heaven” by Randy Alcorn as a guide. (Participants who sign up for this course will need to purchase their own copy of the book.) What will heaven be like? Randy Alcorn presents a thoroughly biblical answer, based on years of careful study, presented in an engaging, reader-friendly style. His conclusions will surprise readers and stretch their thinking about this important subject. Heaven will inspire readers to long for heaven while they’re living on earth.
“The book of Revelation“- Led by David Steagall. This study will dive into the book of Revelation. This book promises: “Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.” David has been hard at work studying to get ready, and I am sure you will not be disappointed as you dive into learning this book. (You know studying a difficult book like Revelation may take longer than six weeks. You will have the option to continue studying with this group after the six weeks is completed.)
“The Way of the Master” – Led by Dean Jordan. Dean has a passion for sharing the gospel. Jesus commands us to go into the world and share the gospel; however, many people are nervous/scared to take the plunge and share Jesus. This course will include many encouraging videos of engaging gospel conversations that, coupled with Dean’s encouragement, are sure to have you much more confident to talk about Jesus with your friends, family, and perhaps even strangers?
“Taste and See” – Led by our women’s ministry, “Salty Sweet Sisterhood.” The Psalmist declared, “Taste and see that the Lord is good” (Ps. 34:8), so Margaret Feinberg decided to take the invitation literally. She embarked on a global culinary and spiritual adventure descending 410 feet into a salt mine, baking fresh matzo at Yale University, harvesting olives off the Croatian coast, and tasting succulent figs at a premier farm – all to discover the truth in such a simple verse. With each person she encountered, she asked, “How do you read the Scripture in light of what you do every day?” Their answers will change the way you read the Bible forever… and the way you approach every meal.
“The book of Jeremiah“- Led by Pastor Bobby. The prophets take up as much space in your Bible as the whole New Testament. We will discuss why: “It is imperative that Christ-followers read and understand the prophets.” We will then discuss the high points of Jeremiah and should leave you with a good understanding of the book so you can continue to read and study some more on your own.
